Smarter medical coding with Viedoc and WHODrug Koda

With the launch of our latest software release, the Viedoc team is excited to introduce a major enhancement to medical coding in our eClinical suite: integration with WHODrug Koda, an automated coding service custom-built by UMC. This long-awaited addition makes medical coding in Viedoc faster, more consistent, and easier to manage – all at no additional cost for Viedoc Coder users.

Smarter suggestions, simpler workflow

Once enabled in Viedoc Admin, the integration allows Viedoc Coder to display WHODrug Koda suggestions directly in the coding view. Instead of manually searching for terms, coders can now review and apply suggested codes with just a few clicks. This improves both speed and consistency, helping studies maintain high data quality while reducing repetitive work.

Each coded item now also includes its assigned ATC codes alongside the drug name, offering added clarity during both coding and review. The result is a smoother, more transparent workflow that enhances accuracy without automating away essential medical oversight.

More usability updates in Viedoc Designer

This release also introduces several usability improvements in Viedoc Designer, aimed at streamlining study setup and form building:

• Code lists are now easier to manage – users can add, remove, and modify options more flexibly.
• Full code list values can be viewed simply by hovering over truncated text.
• The design version compare output can now be generated in .csv format, making it easy to import results into Excel for documentation or review.
• Navigation has been simplified, with an updated clickable “D” icon that takes users back to the Designer start page.
  
  Together, these refinements continue our ongoing effort to make Viedoc intuitive, efficient, and pleasant to use across all roles and workflows.
