Capturing structured, repeatable data is a common requirement in clinical trials. With our latest release, Viedoc version 4.92, repeating item groups are now supported across the platform, making it easier to design, collect, export, and integrate repetitive data structures in a compliant and scalable way.

This enhancement gives study teams the flexibility to manage repeating data directly within forms, while maintaining full control over logic, validation, and traceability.

Designed for flexibility in Viedoc Designer

Repeating item groups can now be configured directly in Viedoc Designer. They support the same powerful functionality as other form elements, including visibility conditions, functions, and validations.

This means you can design dynamic forms that adapt to study needs, without workarounds or manual duplication of items. Repeating structures can be defined with clear minimum and maximum limits, helping ensure consistency while preserving flexibility.

Clear and controlled data capture in Viedoc Clinic

In Viedoc Clinic, users can add or remove item group repeats within the configured boundaries. Each repeat is clearly ordered in the interface, and all changes are audit-trailed to maintain full transparency and compliance.

The result is a user experience that feels intuitive, while still meeting the rigorous documentation standards required in clinical research.

Seamless export and integrations

Support for repeating item groups extends beyond form design and data entry.

A new data export version now includes full support for repeating item groups across all export formats. This includes improved CSV and Excel handling, clear differentiation of repeats, and a new default option to export repeating item groups as a separate form, resulting in a clearer and more intuitive data structure.

Integrations also support repeating item group data via APIs and a new import application. This makes it easier to map and exchange repeated data structures with external systems, reducing friction in downstream processes and reporting.

Other updates in the 4.92 release

Alongside repeating item groups, this release introduces several additional improvements across the Viedoc platform:

  • Viedoc Clinic: Enhanced mobile number verification during registration, login, and in user settings, strengthening second-factor authentication and improving validation of mobile inputs.
  • Viedoc Admin: SSO configuration now supports automatic retrieval of identity certificates via a federation metadata URL, reducing the need for manual certificate updates.
  • Viedoc Designer: Item group OIDs can now be modified, with the same behavior and restrictions as item OID changes across design versions and revisions.
  • Viedoc Coder: A "Reason for change" is now required when modifying existing coding or review decisions, supporting clearer documentation and traceability.

Looking ahead

With support for repeating item groups, we are expanding the flexibility of Viedoc while maintaining the compliance and control that clinical trials demand. This is another step toward making complex study designs easier to implement and manage across the entire eClinical suite.

We'll continue to build on this foundation in upcoming releases, with further enhancements aimed at increasing flexibility, improving integrations, and refining the user experience across roles. Stay tuned for what's next.
